Arabian horse submitted by rjsjwilliams on July 13, 2017, 11:52am a Newbery Medal winner, it is the first Marguerite Henry book I ever read and was smart enough to go on to hunt down all the rest of her books. Wesley Dennis is the award winning artist who draws all of the illustrations for her books and does such a wonderful job of bringing them all to life. This is the story of a Godolphin Arabian horse who is the wonderful thoroughbred racing horse of today. Though it was written n 1949, it is never outdated.

Wonderful submitted by abigailmurphy on August 4, 2019, 3:21pm I love this book.
It is about one of the three Arabian horses that most Thoroughbreds are descendants of.
Wonderful for horse lovers.

Favorite submitted by thesrays on August 25, 2019, 7:26pm I've read many horse stories, including Black Beauty, but the relationship between a boy groom and this amazing horse somehow makes it my favorite of all time.

The first great race horse submitted by MistyFabulous on June 15, 2023, 10:22am I liked learning about the original racehorse from whom most of the thoroughbred racers are descendents of. The story was fascinating to follow the horse who started in Arabia and went through various owners in various countries before siring a foal who went on to become a great racer. Definitely a great read.
