For some reason the entire genre of the movie is switched to a spy movie, and while they try to tie in a message of friendship with Lightning and Mater, it is utterly lost among the rest of the movie. It feels like the entire movie was created around the joke of Mater responding to spies by saying "Tow Mater, average intelligence."

Pixar's First Strikeout submitted by Meginator on August 2, 2017, 2:15pm This one's a swing and a miss from Pixar, I'm afraid. Cars 2 is fine as a straightforward action comedy, and the animation and scenery are predictably excellent, but the film completely fails to live up to the studio's standards and, by extension, those of its predecessor as well. The genre is inexplicably switched to a spy film pastiche, which is fine but a little disorienting, and the focus lies on Mater, which is fine but done in a way that takes advantage of the same easy jokes the film itself appears to condemn in its own third act. The morals of the story and its (supposed) emotional core just don't resonate the way they should and the whole thing feels like a disappointment. It's not bad, exactly, but it's not particularly great either; Cars 2 is just kind of there.

Cars 2 is about race Car Lightning McQueen as he continues his racing career and is invited to race in the Grand Prix. He and his friend Mater travel across the world for races. However, Mater soon gets involved with some spies that fear that someone is trying to sabotage the racers.

A great sequel that, honestly, seemed even better than the first! Very cute and exciting for younger children.

He will play with his matchbox cars and call them Finn and Holly ( two new characters) there’s even a song by Weezer in the film that we refer to as “ his song”. He does his happy dance whenever it comes on.
