Strong Album submitted by benmurphysmith on August 22, 2018, 12:06am Interesting album, Kendrick establishes himself as one of the premier rappers and lyricists in hip hop today. Another great pick-up by Dre.

Lives Up to the Hype submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2022, 5:44pm This album is old-school in every way, from the production style to the lyrical content. Each of the tracks is built around a steady beat that consistently drives the music forward without the use of a traditional verse/chorus structure (although the tracks do have repeated refrains), with the beats forming as integral a part of the songs as Lamar’s constant, smooth rhythmic flow. The lyrical content, too, is reminiscent of old-school gangsta rap, although these songs focus more on the struggles of daily life in modern Compton than on violent exploits. With solid production and a consistent style, this album takes its cues from the past but still feels very much of the present.

Let Kendrick cook! submitted by dtarrago on August 17, 2023, 10:00pm Incredible album. Storytelling is really strong and everything flows really well with each other. For those not familiar with Kendrick Lamar at the time, this solidified Kendrick Lamar as a major force on the scene and with good reason.
