Every Track a Winner submitted by Meginator on July 24, 2019, 9:28am This compilation kicks off with “Call Me Maybe” and never slows down; it’s a non-stop parade of huge hits that perfectly encapsulate the summer of 2012. Most Now That’s What I Call Music albums are at least a bit uneven, but this one is the rare exception: every single song (and I mean Every. Single. Song.) is an all-timer, with zero duds among them. I was singing (and definitely not office-chair dancing) to each track, each one a new nostalgic thrill as the album progressed. Musically, this compilation is more unified than most of its peers, and it has an excellent combination of one-hit wonders (Cher Lloyd! Alex Clare!) and longtime chart stalwarts (Justin Bieber! Katy Perry! One Direction!). Even the bonus tracks are pretty good; the producers managed to dig up Halestorm for this one, although “Here’s to Us” isn’t exactly representative of their current musical direction. Run, do not walk, to this album to relive the glory days and experience a transformative moment in pop music.
