Based on the character created by Johnston McCulley.
Antonio Banderas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Rufus Sewell, Nick Chinlund.
This time, the legendary Zorro fights against evil-doers with the help of his beautiful wife, Elena, and their precocious young son, Joaquin. Alejandro De LaVega is torn between two worlds: his life as Zorro and his life as a family man. After Alejandro once again breaks his promise to stop wearing the mask, Elena leaves him, and she soon begins seeing Armand, a haughty French Count. But a mysterious explosion in the desert leads Zorro to believe that there's more to Armand than meets the eye. Zorro becomes intent on finding out what that is. Little does he know, there are others working to uncover certain truths as well.
DVD, region 1, widescreen presentation; Dolby Digital.
COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Ok submitted by crazypockets on July 13, 2013, 12:53pm I liked the first one better. The introduction of the son was a tired plot device, but Antonio Banderas is still good in it.

good submitted by poptart887 on August 14, 2016, 6:56pm not as good as the first zorro movie
Good, But Could Have Been Brilliant submitted by Meginator on August 23, 2020, 6:29pm Despite its excellent cast and fully immersive historical setting, this film lacks the emotional depth of its predecessor and ultimately tries a little too hard to be something it isn’t. Antonio Banderas makes for a wonderful Zorro, and the film works best when it tries merely to be a fun action film and a throwback to swashbucklers past. Unfortunately, the writers felt the need to introduce unnecessary and artificial stakes by tying in the (still distant) Civil War and, bizarrely, a secret society. These developments pulled me right out of the story and actually made me laugh out loud for their incongruity. Why not have Zorro simply protect the people of California from greedy capitalists? It’s a formula that works and suits the character perfectly well. Instead, this film takes one unreasonable twist too many and feels overly long about three-quarters of the way through. There are plenty of fun moments and exciting duels and set pieces, but the filmmakers repeatedly shoot themselves in the foot with unreasonable ambitions that never make sense within the story they are actually telling. The Legend of Zorro is more frustrating than actually bad, but it could have been geat with some careful editing.
