Suddenly heralded as a local hero who took the courage to stand up to crime, people look up to Tom as a man of high moral regard. But all the media attention attracts the likes of the mob, who show up at Tom's doorstep. Is it a case of mistaken identity or does Tom have a history that no one knows about?

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

A History of Violence submitted by carolynherrmann on August 19, 2015, 4:57am I really like this movie a lot. I've seen it a few times. I think it is the amazing acting. It is pretty violent and I would not recommend it for children. But for adults it is entertaining. I enjoyed the fact that a reformed criminal has a secret past that comes back to haunt him and his new family. He has to return to his past hometown to solve the problem. It is worth watching for the pure entertainment value.

Love This Movie! submitted by eroussey on September 20, 2015, 3:30pm This is one of my favorite movies, and Viggo Mortensen's acting is the main reason. Although there is a fair amount of violence, the protagonist is a really likeable guy, and you're rooting for him in his fight to keep the life he has built. The story has unexpected twists and turns which holds your interest right up until the end.
