Hmmm submitted by rossorr on October 27, 2014, 6:10pm It's an attempt to update film noir with 1960s psychologizing, but unfortunately it doesn't really work. The two American leads come across as amateurish and shrill when set against a cast of veteran British actors. (Noel Coward's cameo as a kind of a creepy version of himself is quite fun.) The suspense isn't very suspenseful; and the big concluding set piece is just self-indulgent and goofy. One thing I will say is, this film makes you realize how much better Hitchock was at handling the same kind of material.
