Suspense submitted by Jan Wolter on July 15, 2013, 9:09am This classic film has been remade twice, but the original is still the best. The plot is simple, four ordinary men must drive two trucks loaded with nitroglycerine (an explosive that could be set off by the slightest bump) over 300 miles of terrible roads to put out an oil well fire. Tons of suspense. The film was criticized as being "anti-American" because it is critical of the American oil companies, but mostly it's more sympathetic with the plight of poor working men than with oil companies.
