Really Good! submitted by alumeng.ajl on July 14, 2012, 2:44pm This film is so good!

good movie but... submitted by Sylwia on July 17, 2013, 8:08pm I felt this movie did not depict the book very well even though I liked the movie as a self standing story. If you are a true Jane Eyre fan you might spoil the book by watching this movie.

Good submitted by Amber Kinder on June 15, 2014, 5:42pm This movie was good but I have seen other adaptations that were a bit better.

Not as Faithful to the Book submitted by kathscot on June 23, 2014, 7:32pm I wonder why the writers felt their substitutes better than Charlotte Bronte's dialogs. Some omissions made the story a bit harder to follow.
But beautiful settings and good acting.
Worth watching if you like the story.

Good version... submitted by Kikumatsu97 on July 27, 2015, 6:58pm But I really like the version with Bill Hurt better. Here's why. Michael Fassbender just doesn't seem older enough to play Rochester.
Jane Eyre should be totally plain. Mia Wasikowska is just too pretty for this part. I liked how awkwardly and just barely acceptably attractive Charlotte Gainsbourg is in the 1996 version. She's good. But all in all I think it's nice that they've redone it. I love Fassbender regardless of his being inaccurately cast. Still a wonderfully bleak sotry ith a moderately happy ending. This story is often so gut wrenching that I don't mind watching it in the middle if I catch it on TV.

Good actors submitted by toschag on August 4, 2016, 7:08pm The acting was good, the story was slow.

Heart of the Matter submitted by K09Aguilera on July 22, 2017, 9:52am I am a steadfast Jane Eyre fan. The Masterpiece version is my "lifeboat" movie and has been with me through every up and down; birthday to breakup. It's such an antidote to modernity, as Jane shares with us the world printed within our own, that exists along side of us as invisible, and as real, as our souls.

That being said, this feels like a completely different tale. While the Masterpiece version clings to the text for dear life, never meandering from the linear progression of the story, this film sees fit to move through Jane's mind: her memories, her wavering grip on reality, and the dialogue between her mind and heart. And although it is not a complete synthesis of the text (Can I forgive them for the way they've ended this one? In time, yes, I think so) it is so true to Bronte's stye. This movie is as enchanting and haunting as the moors themselves, but requires some knowledge of the text in order to enjoy it.

Good submitted by zmclaugh on July 27, 2018, 9:21pm A good adaptation of a classic novel, though I like the Masterpiece version better.
