Out Of Time - R.E.M. submitted by Fevvers - STAR473 on August 20, 2015, 12:52am A 5-star album. The hit single "Losing My Religion" is well-known and I love it. But the lesser-known tracks are great as well and full of variety. "Belong" presents an apocalyptic world and yet the lyrics also paint the picture of a woman soothing her child and promising safety despite the chaos. "Country Feedback" is blistering and bitter and poetic. "Near Wild Heaven" is a soaring bright song about the withering of love: "my heart thrown open wide / in this near wild heaven / not near enough..."

An elegant masterpiece submitted by Richard Lee Pierre on August 18, 2019, 10:18am REM expanded their sound in “Green,” and “Out of Time” finds them further exploring that territory. The sound of this album is beautifully clear, nuanced, and creative. I enjoy the collaborations—from the slight silliness of KRS-1’s rap on “Radio Song” to (above all) Kate Pierson’s background vocals on “Shiny Happy People” (give it another listen and realize it’s actually a pretty deep song) and “Me in Honey”.
