Classic Country Christmas submitted by Meginator on June 11, 2021, 6:05pm This album is packed full of classic Christmas singalong tunes, many of which are still in regular rotation in this or other versions. Gene Autry’s deep twangy vocals lend the music a sense of traditional Americana that has come to be associated with the holiday season and the lyrics have plenty of humor that will appeal to children and wistful adults. I particularly appreciated the juxtaposition between a sung version of “The Night Before Christmas” and “The Night Before Christmas (In Texas, That Is)”, which twists the familiar narrative in predictable, yet amusing, ways. This album would be a great choice for a family singalong or for anyone who looking to recapture some of that childlike Christmas wonder inside of them.
