COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Great documentary about the history of punk rock submitted by breaking_glass on March 28, 2011, 2:41pm This is an excellent documentary, although I was initially a little put off by the DVD cover (I don't like it). But upon taking a closer look at the details, and the individuals involved in the film, it was clear that I did not want to miss this one. The film moves chronologically in time, from the earliest punk forefathers such The Velvet Underground, to present day in 2005 when the film was made. Also well worth watching just for all of the music and old live footage, such as performances at the legendary CBGBs in NYC. Here's a list of some of those interviewed:

Henry Rollins (Black Flag, Rollins Band)
David Johansen (New York Dolls)
Siouxsie Sioux (Siouxsie and the Banshees)
Wayne Kramer (MC5)
Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys)
Ari Up (Died 2010) (The Slits)
Legs McNeil (founder of "Punk Magazine" and author of "Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk")

Don Letts, the director of this film, was a founder of Big Audio Dynamite with Mick Jones, after Jones had left The Clash. Letts would later direct many films and music videos, including The Clash documentary, Westway to the World.
