Why isn't this a cut film? submitted by irenzero on July 17, 2011, 12:48pm I am wondering why this film hasn't become the kind of cult item that it's pedigree would suggest. First of you have Kathryn Bigelow directing, she's always been a solid action director (see Near Dark for proof of that), but more than that she delivers a great Neo-Noir with near future (that being 1999 at the time) overtones. You have solid to great performances by Ralph Fiennes, Vincent D'Onofrio, and a great turn by Angela Bassett. Maybe there is just too much going on. You have the normal noir tropes of damaged ex-cops, tricky hookers, lost love, betrayal, but at the same time you have the baggage of the LAPD community issues of the 80s and 90s. There area a couple of over the top scenes (which honestly have to be seen), but over all, like Dark Blue, Strange Days is a overlooked gem of a crime thriller. Check it out, and if you like it, it might find a spot on your DVD shelf next to Blade Runner, Brazil and Hardware.

Hard to find movie, great AADL carries it submitted by brooksza on July 25, 2022, 4:12pm Y2K baby! This sci-fi noir is both outdated and incredibly relevant. Despite some clunky exposition and a kinda tidy ending, I thought this was really good. I hope someday it's easier to find on a streaming service. I was only able to find a nonanamorphic (bars on all 4 sides of the screen) DVD at AADL

Amazing hair for Tom Sizemore and young Ralph Fiennes looks like Bradley Cooper in this.

Not so good submitted by mandevil on January 26, 2023, 4:41pm Very gratuitous violence.
