Not good submitted by JohnK on December 4, 2022, 1:06pm I've been watching alot of art documentaries lately, and enjoying all of them... except for this one. The filmaker never even really explains why Billy Papas is obsessed with David Hockney... a better choice might be somoene like Jeff Koons, who would be more likely to appreciate the weird conceptual emptiness of Pappas's pencil portrait of Marylin Monroe. ("The Price of Everything" is an excellent documentary about the big business of contemporary art, and does a much better job examining issues of ego, obsession, and "making it" in the art world). If you want to see DVDs covering lots of interesting new artists, try out the "Art 21 : : art in the 21St Century" series, right here at AADl.
