Master Storyteller submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 8:16am Like all of Frank Turner’s albums, this is a masterpiece of singer-songwriter storytelling packed with emotion in every single track. Thematically, many of these songs pay tribute to England, whether it’s Turner reflecting on his homeland or singing an a cappella folk ballad, though plenty of tracks rely instead on intimate storytelling brought to vivid life by raw, honest vocal performances. Musically, the album invokes a range of influences, from folk music to punk rock, with the lyrics always creating and sustaining the songs’ emotional core. No one tells and delivers a story quite as effectively as Frank Turner does, and his music is simply extraordinary in its emotional intimacy, delivered trough the most effective musical means.
