Ali is a small-town girl with a big voice who escapes hardship to follow her dreams to LA. After stumbling upon The Burlesque Lounge, a majestic but ailing theater that is home to an inspired musical revue, Ali lands a job as a cocktail waitress from Tess, the club's proprietor and headliner. After Ali finally makes her way from the bar to the stage, things take a dramatic turn when her larger than life voice causes a charismatic entrepreneur to make an enticing proposal.

Plesantly surprised by Burlesque submitted by ErinDurrett on July 3, 2011, 12:52pm I finally got around to watching this movie a few nights ago and have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. I admit to wanting to have seen it since trailers of the film were released and an OPI nail polish line inspired by the film was launched. (The polishes are great, especially the shimmers.) Anyways, after time, I had heard some not so great reviews and became less eager to watch the film. If you enjoy dancing, music, flash and flair, and burlesque shows (which I always have) then you don't want to miss this film. The story itself is familiar and used; girl works as a waitress in a small town, has big aspirations to be a "star," finally makes her way into a club when she gets a chance, has two choose between two guys, and helps the club owner save the club from going under. However, the singing and dancing is fresh and fun, and the small town girl is Christina Aguilera, the two guys she has to choose between are Cam Gigandet and Eric Dane, and the club owners are Cher and Peter Gallagher (plus her stage manager Stanley Tucci). The cast is fantastic, and the music, dance, and costumes will win almost everyone over. Also, it was interesting to see Kristen Bell as the bad girl in a film for once. This film is definitely one you should check out.

Burlesque Delivered submitted by kathleen824 on July 6, 2012, 9:45am Burlesque delivered! Outstanding cast, strong performances by all. Music was sharp and the dance was sexy wothout being vulgar. Do not now if this was adapted from a play. If not, it should be on Broadway.

Hits the Right Notes submitted by Meginator on August 6, 2017, 1:04pm Look, this is a film starring Christina Aguilera and Cher in a musical context, and that's all you really need to know. Obviously, it's amazing.

This film features excellent performances from Christina Aguilera, Cher, and the rest of the cast. The story itself doesn't tread any new ground, but the setting is phenomenal and a lot of fun, exploring the world of modern burlesque shows. The soundtrack and musical performances are a highlight, as are the sets and costumes. Christina Aguilera and Cher are amazingly talented performers and attack their roles with a lot of energy; the result is a film that is a lot of fun.
