Hello Oscar! submitted by manz on May 19, 2011, 8:54am Creepy. Haunting. Disturbing. But in a good way.

Makes you want to watch it, right? Because you should. If you're into that sort of thing, because, true, it is all of those things. And is a psychological thriller. There is also superb acting and great cinematography.

Portman's portrayal of a young ballerina slowly losing grip on reality as she prepares and performs the rolls of the black swan and the white swan in Swan Lake, is fabulous. You're on the edge of your seat the whole time, eyes glued to the screen, waiting for her to lose it. Then finally she does. In a way you wouldn't have guessed.

Keptmeguessing submitted by markwells on May 26, 2011, 7:51am This movie slowly grabbed me but then wouldn't let go. This was a great vehicle for Natalie Portman. The pace accelerates up to the ending that ties a bow around this taut psycho thrill ride.
Bravo!

Masterful Performance submitted by Meginator on July 1, 2011, 8:51pm First of all, Natalie Portman is absolutely stunning in this film. Despite the chaos that naturally surrounds her (this is, after all, an Aronofsky film), she channels an inner divide beautifully and remains composed while her character's reality slowly begins to unravel. Though there are parts of the film that made me a bit uncomfortable, Aronofsky's brilliance shines through, and the plot remains intact despite some twists and ambiguities. "Black Swan" somehow manages to be both avant garde and a traditional storytelling vehicle, and I am impressed with the result. I'm sure there's much to be mined throughout the movie's symbolism and recurring motifs, but having seen it just once I left with plenty to think about. "Black Swan" strikes me as a truly great film, an excellent example of the possibilities of cinematography mirroring plot with the highest caliber acting you'll find in a movie. It's definitely not for everyone, but "Black Swan" is highly rewarding for those who ask quite a bit of their movies.

Overrated submitted by jarroyo on July 14, 2011, 12:18pm I thought this movie was overrated. It was a bit slow. My husband and I were able to predict everything that would happen while we watched the movie.

ok submitted by ftan on July 16, 2012, 4:16pm although the acting is fine, it is wildly inappropriate and very scary.

A Total Waste of Time submitted by a2sue on July 13, 2013, 6:27am This movie was terrible, plain and simple.

Gripping submitted by kelleyc on July 11, 2016, 7:59am You will not be able to stop watching this movie. Portman does a phenomenal job portraying the slow loss of sanity in her dedication to the role. A must-see.

Ick submitted by sara on August 10, 2016, 8:00pm Im sorry I wasted my time watching it. Depressing and dark.

Thriller submitted by KOH on August 28, 2017, 7:28pm Natalie Portman is fantastic in this dark thriller. It's not for everyone, but if you like films that explore dark psychological themes, check it out.

Okay submitted by zmclaugh on August 10, 2018, 7:46pm An okay movie, but lacking in logic and not as psychologically dramatic as I thought it would be.

Beautiful submitted by crp on August 12, 2019, 8:43pm Beautiful portrayal and acting. Would watch again easily!

Yes submitted by jibkidder on June 17, 2022, 10:02am I don't always care for Aronofsky, who is often over-determined in a way I don't care for, but this movie is so great, taking of sort Italian horror vibe but making something unique of it and Portman and Kunis were perfect for it.

Okay submitted by Klyde13 on July 7, 2023, 1:50pm It was fun to read at frost but it got kinda old fast
