COMMUNITY REVIEWS

The Animation Show is Good. submitted by mikebeach on March 12, 2008, 3:33pm A DVD containing animated short films showcased in the first run of the touring festival of the same name from Mike Judge and Don Hertzfeldt—essential viewing for fans of animation. Highlights include Hertzfeldt’s intro, intermission, and ending, featuring the fluffy things made famous in Rejected and some notable hand drawn effects, “Mt. Head” by Koji Yamamura, the most fluid animation on the disc, and “The Rocks” by Chris Stenner and Heidi Wittlinger, stop motion about two fellows (think Vladimir and Estragon made of stone) while the advancement of man happens around them in time lapse. It was also interesting to see the “Early Pencil Tests” by Judge for the origins of Office Space and King of the Hill, as well as making fun of independent film snobbery.

While all of the “FILMS!” here deserve at least one viewing, the disc is not without problems. There are some shorts from the festival that do not appear here, and while the list of special features looks good on the back of the case, many are lacking in that they closer resemble a poorly conceived PowerPoint presentation than a proper behind-the-scenes feature. Get this DVD rather than watching the different films on YouTube.

if? submitted by lekendrick on May 4, 2012, 5:45pm you'd seen the series broadcast on mtv originally I'm sure it's important artifact, but joins many such show reels despite, michael judge's famous name being lent lacking anything of storytelling or humor traditional sense favor mild amusements it's not bad just different be warned!
