Graceland Disc 2 submitted by iangriffin on May 17, 2011, 12:47pm The best cuts on this record from 70 year old Paul Simon are in the same class as the best of the Graceland album. Dazzling Blue, Love is Eternal Sacred Light, and the title track are probably my favorites. I can't get over that Simon's vocals have probably improved in the last 25 years, at the very least, they have not deteriorated in any way noticeable. This seems like a more personal album than Graceland, with sing-song rhyming taking backseat to more introspective lyrics, Rewrite probably being the best example of this. The sing song lyrics are still there, but they balance more serious poetry and straightforwardness than can be found on Graceland. Much has been made with the comparisons to Bob Dylan as pre-eminent singer songwriter, and as good as the latter Dylan albums have been, So Beautiful surpasses the material on any of them. This is the Album of the Year hands-down.
