A great graphic novel submitted by Vienna Carinthia on June 15, 2013, 8:12pm The comic book by Tove Jansson features several short stories with many different loveable characters. The black-and-white drawings are very intricate and you can see that they were drawn with love and care. The humor of the comic strip has so many different layers (just check out also the figures and details in the background) so that I can imagine that kids and adults alike will find it appealing.

Moomin Comic Strip submitted by skcramer on July 15, 2013, 9:11pm This first volume of Moomin cartoons features the well-loved Finnish characters in four nonsensical adventures. The stories themselves have a rambling quality, with needless digressions playing for laughs, and some readers may be put off by this unfocused storyline. It is really the characters – the classic Moomin cast of Moomintroll, Moominpappa, Moominmamma, Snufkin, Sniff and the Snork Maiden – that lend the comic strip its charm. The illustrations are black-and-white line drawings with the hippopotamus-like Moomins and their friends styled exactly as they were in the Moomin book illustrations. Readers who enjoyed with Moomin books as children will likely enjoy the comic strip. However, this is not the book to introduce young readers to the Moomins. One must also have some previous knowledge of the characters to understand much of the humor. The content is also occasional mature, with references to suicide and drunkenness, and the endnote specifically states that the comic strip was intended “for adults.”

Great books submitted by ashflowtuff on August 25, 2014, 9:12am My kids love graphic novels, and they find the Moomin books really fun. I really enjoy them as well - they are funny and whimsical, with an interesting cast of characters. I highly recommend the Moomin comics, as well as the novels.

Smell & Tell Recommendation submitted by laurenmccarthya2 on August 7, 2019, 5:16pm I checked out this book due to the recommendation of Michelle Kryl Kidd, leader of the Smell & Tell Workshops. There's definitely strips that go with her theme, but I really enjoyed these fun characters.
