For Ribot aficionados submitted by Richard Lee Pierre on July 29, 2019, 8:42pm Marc Ribot is kind of a “guitarists guitarist.” Wide ranging in the styles he has mastered and can deliver, he always manages to make his work sound like nobody else’s. This soundtrack features Ribot in a relaxed, subdued frame of mind, playing around with sonic textures and tones more than making the guitar stand out front and center. That’s a strange thing to say about an album that consists entirely of solo guitar pieces, but trust me. Listen to this album and you can hear how Ribot crafted his pieces to complement the associated films rather than distract from them.
