Great Movie submitted by 0liviap0pp on July 7, 2011, 9:40am This sci-fi movie is about how pods grow into human shapes and take over the humans while they are asleep. Miles and Becky escape them and must warn the other cities before it is too late.

A Red Scare Classic submitted by Meginator on August 22, 2022, 10:03am This classic may be a relic of the Red Scare in its overall tone and its themes, but its core premise is still frightening, with escalating dramatic tension making for an effective sci-fi thriller. The film’s key moment, which features a frantic Kevin McCarthy breaking the fourth wall, is genuinely chilling, and the ambiguous ending fits the story perfectly. The framing narrative, paired with the central story’s effective juggling of character development and an increasing feeling of social claustrophobia, creates tension from the start and maintains a good pace throughout the story, even though most of the surprises are somewhat predictable. Despite its age, the film is still enjoyable both for its storyline and as a product of its era.
