One of the better WWII films, submitted by GJBarnett2 on August 28, 2015, 4:50pm ... thematically inspired by "Northwest Passage," actually created a great deal of controversy in Britain. Many Brits deeply resented that while the China-Burma-India theatre of War was largely a British responsibility with relatively few US troops (other than the air forces that "flew the Hump) this film was about an American unit which raids a radar station behind Japanese lines. As the Brits saw it, this was just another example of how we Americans thought we won WWII all by ourselves. Nevertheless, an American film made not just in Hollywood but actually IN Hollywood for distribution primarily in the US might be excused for staging it from an American perspective, albeit fictional. At least the film starred Errol Flynn, ironically an Australian, as commanding officer of the American troops. After viewing the theatrical version, be sure to play it again with the commentary.
