good as a movie... submitted by watermelon on July 14, 2012, 3:22pm ... but a poor representation of the books. it leaves out a lot things and the events are not always in order. but as just a movie, i liked it

a nice movie submitted by sumsaylor on July 29, 2015, 2:16pm I really enjoyed this movie. Jim Carrey does a great job as Count Olaf. I had hoped there would be a sequel, because the characters were so great.

Books summarized in one movie submitted by kjshaffer on August 9, 2015, 11:52am Great acting by Jim Carrey. A fun movie for kids and adults

Extraordinary submitted by nbwiam on July 5, 2017, 2:07pm In the hostile hospital it was extraordinary for the Baudilars to hide in the trunk of Count Olaf's scar

Dark comedy submitted by lstorc on August 28, 2018, 6:58pm This is a Tim Burton-esque film. It is dark and comical. The acting is fantastic. The cinematography is memorable. It also has a remarkable soundtrack.

Interesting adaptation. submitted by Xris on August 28, 2018, 8:18pm Don't know if I liked that they took the first three books and put them all together in this movie. Maybe that's why they haven't made another. Still pretty true to the series.

Love it submitted by evie2017 on August 12, 2019, 12:53pm MUCH prefer this to the Netflix series. Great for any fan of the Series, and stays pretty true to the books. Carrey is great, as expected, though the acting all around is excellent.

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events submitted by tappangirl on June 15, 2020, 6:28pm It's a good movie, but I only understood it because I had read the books. My friend watched it without reading the books and didn't understand. Overall, really good movie. Oh, and the neighbor that the children think is a worker for their uncle is the same actor from Home Alone!

A fun adaptation submitted by dntanzer on August 24, 2020, 5:01pm I actually really enjoyed this adaption. It's fun and silly and the acting was pretty good especially Count Olaf!

AWESOME! submitted by eheaton13 on July 22, 2023, 7:21pm I LOVED THIS!

Fun, but not as good as I wanted submitted by renarde7 on August 18, 2023, 1:29pm Loved these books, and the movie just didn't quite live up to them. Still an entertaining watch, though.
