A Different Disney Anthology submitted by Meginator on August 11, 2019, 10:07pm Julie Andrews has impeccable taste (obviously), and this selection of Disney songs has a great mix of oft-anthologized classics and under-appreciated gems. With just a couple of exceptions, the selection here tends toward the slower, sweeping ballads that often get passed over in favor of flashier tunes (such as “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” in place of “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” from Cinderella); the alternative focus makes for a more introspective, more tender listening experience that highlights Disney composers’ huge emotional range. Though I had initially hoped that this album consisted of Julie Andrews singing her favorite Disney songs, I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent song selection and relished the opportunity to revisit some of Disney’s lesser-known, but still outstanding, musical accomplishments.
