For Those Who Wished Mrs. Marple Traveled More submitted by Sara W on June 20, 2011, 11:18pm A coworker overhearing that I was looking for an audiobook recommended this title to me and I'm glad she did! This was a nice, light story with colorful characters and a decent amount of action.

Some stand-outs in the large cast of characters include the elderly Mrs. Pollifax, a well-bred British screw-up, an aging and elusive Communist spy, a filthy and resourceful Turk and a band of Gypsies. They all provided enough various voices and personalities to keep the action moving without overwhelming the story.

There were a few moments I felt were slightly predictable, but at the same time, they were a little heart-warming and altogether added up to a satisfying happy ending.

Mrs P heads to Turkey submitted by camelsamba on June 30, 2016, 8:31pm I first encountered Mrs Pollifax many years ago (>20?), but revisited the series this past year - some for the first time. I have a feeling I read this one before, because I could predict the details of many plot twists (e.g. the mole, Magda's package, various others). But it would have been at least 20 years ago, so the details were fresh enough to keep me listening. And it's almost refreshing to be listening to a story set in the Cold War, back when you had to send telegrams to get quick communication with HQ, and you could walk up to an airline counter and buy a ticket with cash...

Mrs Pollifax is still naive and a little too forthcoming with details at the wrong time, but she is also ever resourceful and able to draw upon her deep reserves when necessary. I enjoy this narrator, but that is largely because I already associate her as being Mrs P from our books on CASSETTE commuter era!

Good book submitted by leea on August 18, 2020, 12:54pm Mrs. Pollifax gives Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple a rival to reckon with.
