Bogie at his best submitted by kencza on August 6, 2019, 12:00am For those too young to appreciate Bogart, these are the roles and kind of films he built legend around. "Casablanca" was not his only film. Great acting and a constant tension made this one of my favorites. A great supporting cast too.

Watched it again after many years submitted by ccrose on October 16, 2020, 10:56pm I knew I had some reason to remember bits and pieces of this movie but watching it again reminded me how well done it was. Written and directed by John Huston with top role for his aging father, actor Walter Huston, was brilliant. Son won Academy Award for directing and his father won for best supporting actor. The story is a tangle of men needing money in the worst way and the whiff of gold in the Sierras. The triangle of Bogart, Tim Holt and Walter Huston, builds a tension as they pan for gold. It was filmed on location (whew, really hot place). There’s plenty of unscrupulous men woven throughout. It must have been a labor of love for John Huston, determined to give his father a chance to have a memorable role before he died.. So glad I watched it again.

A great film submitted by mandevil on January 5, 2021, 7:27pm Bogie is fantastic and Walter Huston, father of Director John Huston gives a great performance.

Great Acting submitted by SaraP on July 26, 2022, 1:12pm While it's well acted and definitely worth watching a few times, it also kind of drags a little.

Excellent submitted by RebeccaWittekindt on July 20, 2023, 11:03am My favorite Bogart movie. Great seeing him become more unhinged.

The real National Treasure submitted by tarascon on January 18, 2024, 12:29pm One of the best.
