Goofball love
submitted by ccrose on August 29, 2019, 12:09pm
Nicholas Cage as a trying-to-reform excon and his prison cop wife want a child but sadly, Sally Field in her best comedy acting, tells him. With Texas twang, “Am’ barronnn”
Best scene, one I used in an English comp class as topic for a paper, a very very long chase scene with every funny device you could imagine. Cage regrettably robs a 7/11., pantyhose for a mask. Cage commandeers an old farmer, jumps in his truck. Farmer, in amazement, never mind the gun, say, “Son, yew got a painty on yore head.”
A Coen Brothers fun ride.
I'm confused by the above... submitted by Steve Amick on November 19, 2020, 11:29pm How did the reviewer writing the review titled "Goofball love" see Sally Field in this movie? The Cohens are known for the occasional indulgence in surreal moments, but is there a subliminal Sally Field inserted in flash cuts that someone of my years doesn't have the quick eyes to catch--like inserting skull and crossbones in an ad to make it seem dangerous? It's been 33 years since I saw this, but I guarantee I didn't sleep through a second of it. How did I miss Sally Field? Is this one of those re-issued director's cuts in which whole sections are recast with Sally Field? Or is this new Hollywood slang to refer to any short female character actor who can do "feisty"? Like "Kleenex" used generically for any facial tissue: "The role required a Sally Field." The reviewer does state that it's Sally Field's " best comedy acting"--maybe she just acted like she was Holly Hunter and she was so good at it, I had no idea it was Sally Field all along. Well done, Sally Field. You sure fooled me that you were Holly Hunter.
My favorite movie submitted by ilenekroll on July 27, 2021, 10:57pm I remember seeing this movie when I was kid having no idea what it was about. It’s brilliant. Very fun and quotable. It’s silly but one of the funniest movies you will ever see. Not your typical Nick Cage and Holly Hunter .
