not that great submitted by jszchen on August 24, 2011, 8:04pm I did not like this movie or howit was attempting to teach information - there has to be something out there

Lively U.S. History submitted by Meginator on July 30, 2019, 11:28pm This is definitely *not* what I was expecting, and as an adult broadly familiar with most of the information presented here I found the presentation surprisingly hilarious. The overall tone is somewhat flippant, with plenty of groan-worthy jokes that should land well with the target audience (older elementary school and middle school students), but the underlying information is fairly solid and comprehensive; I was surprised by how directly the program confronts issues such as the exclusion of slaves and women from “all men are created equal” and the cruelty of the Indian Removal Act (the script isn’t overly critical, of course, and could certainly do more to expose various gross inequities in U.S. history, but this is definitely better than what I was exposed to in the 1990s and much better than I expected). A number of humorous animations had us laughing out loud and nearly spitting out our drinks (no joke is too literal for these writers), and the rapid-fire narration is nicely balanced by a measured focus on salient facts after the discussion of each president’s tenure. This isn’t perfect, by any means, but it was much better than I expected and is an entertaining introduction to, or refresher on, early U.S. history.

The American Presidents. : the First Eleven Presidents Revolution and the new Nation ; Expansion and Reform submitted by Varshini on August 1, 2019, 9:26pm I felt this wasn't descriptive enough for my purposes, but it's pretty good if you just want a brief education on the time period. It just wasn't the best movie for my purposes. Also, I didn't like the jokes. -__-
