A battle of the sexes, loaded with confusion, mixed identities, a boy dressed up as a girl, and hilarious dialogue with plenty of double entendre. The impending marriage of Figaro to Susanna is threatened by the scheming of Count Almaviva, who desires Susanna for himself, and Marcellina, who wants to marry Figaro herself. All problems are resolved with the help of Countess Almaviva, and the couple are able to marry.
DVD, Region 1 encoding, Dolby digital.
Contents: Mariage de Figaro.
COMMUNITY REVIEWS
My Favorite Mozart Opera submitted by ekjensen on July 19, 2020, 4:03pm If you like arias, duets, trios, quartets, sextets and more with a delightfully comedic cast of characters with hidden, bumping into each other all the times intrigues, this opera is a must see. The NYC MET also has great on line on demand productions where the sets, scenes and costumes are often transported to other time period (e.g., Peter Sellars version in a Manhattan apartment) PS. Shawshank Redemption highlights this opera briefly, too!
