Good submitted by crazypockets on August 15, 2013, 5:32pm Question: What's not to like about Brad Pitt playing Achilles? Answer: Nothing. As someone who's always been interested in ancient history, this was a really fun movie to watch. It brought that world to life well, and it was easy to feel like I was stepping back in time. The sets and costumes were beautiful, and the whole thing was well-cast. My only complaint is surprisingly that I wish Peter O'Toole hadn't been in it. He's getting to the point where he's getting type-cast and playing the same role the same way over and over which is just sad considering he is such a talented actor.

Great submitted by AprilCDB on July 29, 2014, 11:40am Really enjoyed this movie. Between Brad Pitt, Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom it's a good story line with lots of eye candy.

More good than bad but not perfect submitted by Will O on August 27, 2020, 1:42pm Kind of a mixed bag for me but more to like than dislike.
Brad Pitt as Achilles is really good and gives a deeply emotional performance to what could have been a very rote tough guy who best at fighting but goes beyond that.
Eric Bana as Hector is also excellent and probably my favorite character as he isn't fighting for glory or power but because it's his duty. He's one of the few just and honorable leaders that is actually fighting for the people.
Peter O'Toole is great as Priam, when he goes to Achilles to beg for Hector's body is a masterclass in great acting.
Brian Cox adds another great villian role to his resume playing Agamemnom and I just wanted him to die at every turn.
Rose Byrne in one of her earlier roles as Briseis, cousin to Hector and captured by the Greeks who them falls in love with Achilles has a real defiance and fire that shows why someone like Achilles would fall for her.
Diane Kruger is good if under used as Helen.
And Sean Bean is in the movie but doesn't die. For shame. Sean Bean always dies, that's the rule.
Orlando Bloom is not very good. He either over or under reacts and just isn't believable as a lothario even if he is one in real life. The battle scenes were also just ok, not terrible but not great.
I wish there was a little more focus on a main character because it seems like it's kind of Hector but then he dies and it's kind of Achilles but kind of not.
Small gripes and for a 3 hour plus movie it moves along at a good pace.

Long submitted by mandevil on September 22, 2020, 7:36pm It was ok, but when it came time to put in the second disk ( yes it’s that long), i opted to stop watching
