COMMUNITY REVIEWS

first in a great spy series submitted by camelsamba on June 30, 2016, 8:04pm Emily Pollifax (aka Mrs Virgil Pollifax of New Brunswick, NJ) is bored with her life, so walks into the CIA and offers her services as a spy. Thus starts a fun spy series with a delightful & resourceful main character who has adventures around the globe, looking for all intents and purposes like an ordinary tourist but actually in service of the clandestine (often courier) needs of her country.

I first encountered Mrs Pollifax more than 20 years ago - although I'm not entirely sure I ever read this one, the first in the series. I got my copy of this title off the library discard shelf, and it saddens me to think that she might slip into obscurity like some mysterious spy in one of the books (even if the geopolitical concerns are now dated, given that the publication date is almost as ancient as my birthdate...) I re-visited the series this past year as books on CD, and enjoyed it just as much the second time around.

The Beginning submitted by leea on August 18, 2020, 1:09pm She takes on a “job” in Mexico City. The unexpected assignment doesn’t sound dangerous at first, but then, as often happens, something goes wrong. Now our dear Mrs. Pollifax finds herself embroiled in quite a hot Cold War—and her country’s enemies find themselves entangled with one unbelievably feisty lady.
