Aggressively Country But Not Bad submitted by Meginator on August 20, 2020, 12:41am This album is almost aggressively Southern (see “Whistlin’ Dixie” for a quite literal example), but at this point in country music this honky-tonk-flavored approach feels almost like a breath of fresh air. Randy Houser doesn’t reinvent the wheel here, but he doesn’t need to, and each track gets at some aspect of country life and music. Houser is stronger on the fast-paced romps than on the ballads, but his vocals are up to the task regardless of the mood or subject matter. Altogether, this album accomplishes what it sets out to do, updating classic country sounds with a light modern touch.
