It was marvelous to look at the drawings as the teacher read the catchy rhymes aloud, and I (and other students) picked up the book for ourselves later to examine the illustrations at our leisure and even memorize entire poems. Funny, scary, sweet - Silverstein wrote a classic collection. The title and cover alone make a big impression on many children!
