Essential First-Wave Punk submitted by Meginator on August 31, 2019, 11:18pm This is early, angry punk at its very best, blending hard-hitting riffs with an acute sense of melodic progression to create instantly memorable tracks that carry the lyrics quite well. Those lyrics are full of anger about the harsh economic realities of Britain in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and while this makes these songs very much a product of their time and place of creation they hold up extraordinarily well today. Chelsea were definitely ahead of their time and are as good as (and probably better than) most of their better-known contemporaries. This album is essential listening for any first-wave punk fan.
