Lacks a Cohesive Musical Identity submitted by Meginator on August 31, 2019, 11:19pm Though the individual tracks on this album are largely pretty strong, they so closely match the featured artists’ individual styles that it’s difficult to make much sense of them as a cohesive group. The prevailing mood has an indie sensibility to it, but Danger Mouse easily steps into other genres (often alternative rock) as befits the collaborator du jour. Taken as discrete objects, the songs here are fine and occasionally quite good; as a package, however, they offer little insight into Danger Mouse’s own point of view, making the album a bit disappointing.
