Beautiful film submitted by pkooger on September 20, 2009, 2:53pm This is one of my favorite films of all time. From the opening swing of a slave's pick-axe to the final view of the Israelites from Mount Sinai, the film is beautifully animated. The music is beyond fantastic, which is probably why it won two Oscars for Steven Schwartz and one for Hans Zimmer. There are several points in the movie where the music sends chills up my spine.

The Prince of Egypt is classified as a children's movie, or "family friendly", but as anyone familiar with the scriptural account of Moses and the Israelites in Egypt is aware, the story is actually incredibly violent. There are three separate instances of mass killing, but the film manages to portray these events without being grisly or violent. The writers of the film of course take some creative liberties, but over all I think it stays true to the scriptural story.

In conclusion, if you don't think it looks interesting because you already know the story, or it looks like it's for kids, or you're not interested in preachy Bible movies, check out Prince of Egypt anyway and be blown away.

The prince of Egypt submitted by honordenver on June 27, 2011, 6:31pm This movie is really good and portrays the story of Moses and the Israelites without showing the violence in a violent way. This movie is a family movie.

The Prince of Egypt submitted by ginnyb60 on July 10, 2011, 6:03am Though not biblically accurate, this film is well done; an entertaining family film I highly recommend.

AMAZING submitted by loving jinny on August 9, 2012, 4:33pm AMAZING

Great submitted by lilveela on June 25, 2013, 2:14pm It is not biblically correct but I still love this film and the music.

This movie is amazing! submitted by chioma on June 19, 2015, 11:32am This movie perfectly portrays Moses's lifw with beautiful animation, of the 10 plagues, the river turning to blood and Moses splitting the red sea. It is a beautiful movie and those that watch it will be blown away.

Worth It submitted by sally.m.maier on June 27, 2018, 10:54am I watched this movie for the first time because my friends thought it would be a good idea. We’ve never even read the Bible, but this film was a lark anyway, so we tried it.

This film blew my mind. The plot is great, but the way it’s told is masterful. The art is stylists well, but the way the scenes are set up is fantastic. The layout and angles of so many scenes are So Well Thought Out.
The movie’s visual impact is only outdone by it’s auditory one. The songs themselves are catchy (you’ll find yourself singing them years down the line,) meaningful (nothing that takes away from the plot, something even The Hunchback of Norte Dame is guilty of,) and performed with fantastic voices. Even better, the use of silence in the movie is chilling in exactly the way it needs to be.

So much thought went into this movie. If it weren’t for the whole “only religious people watch religious movies” thing, this movie would by all rights be recognized as one of the best animated films to date.

Missed this one as a kid submitted by timdufresne on July 18, 2018, 2:30pm But my partner had me rectify that. Great, imaginative imagination, wonderful music.

Classic submitted by zmclaugh on August 1, 2018, 5:20pm A classic film. Amazing songs.

Prince of Egypt submitted by SBNB on August 7, 2018, 8:19pm This is an excellent movie. It tells the story of Moses from birth to the crossing of the Red Sea. I really enjoyed it. Plus, it has some really good songs.

Amazing. submitted by anacoluthon on August 21, 2018, 3:24am What an incredibly beautiful movie! The animation is gorgeous, but the voice acting and soundtrack just blow me away.

One of my childhood favorites! submitted by Cihendricks on August 28, 2019, 8:25pm The story is entertaining, the animation is beautiful, but the soundtrack is the crown of the movie. I love love LOVE the soundtrack. It's beautiful!

f submitted by Kenes on July 11, 2020, 5:46pm imaginative information movie

Good animation submitted by Will O on August 26, 2020, 9:35am Much shorter than The Ten Commandments so points for that.
The character animation isn't my favorite but the landscapes and buildings are really good and there are several scenes that are just gorgeous. Pretty dark at times too.
The story itself is good and not much new if you're familiar with Exodus. It's also much better than the movie Exodus, if nearly as white voice-wise.
Overall a decent watch and under an hour forty so worth a viewing just for the animation which I never say because I don't like animated movies.
