A year in space -- Beyond a year in space.
Scott Kelly.
A year in space: Adapted from Time's original digital video series, it takes viewers behind the scenes of astronaut Scott Kelly's twelve-month stay on the International Space Station, where he tests human limits for space travel and lays the groundwork for a manned mission to Mars. The one-hour documentary tracks Scott Kelly's mission from training and launch, through his year aboard the International Space Station, right up through his descent and landing.
Beyond a year in space: traces the steps of human space flight from the first animals sent into space to Scott Kelly's historic flight, and into the future of humanity finding its place in the cosmos. On March 2nd, 2016, Scott Kelly returned to earth from the International Space Station after spending a record-breaking year in outer space. Now, scientists are studying Scott to answer the pressing questions: How did space change him? And how can we keep future astronauts safe on long journeys to deep space and beyond?
DVD, region 1, widescreen (16x9); stereo.
COMMUNITY REVIEWS
SPACE! submitted by Meginator on June 17, 2018, 5:59pm This pair of documentaries offers interesting insight into Scott Kelly’s record-breaking voyages to the International Space Station. The filmmakers don’t reinvent the wheel here, but the films are informative enough, featuring footage shot on the ISS and examining some potential long-term effects of spaceflight. The filmmakers got inside access to NASA and interviewed many of the key players. Produced by PBS, the films are accessible to (and appropriate for) a variety of audiences, covering the basics but not going into a whole lot of detail with regard any of the subjects they tackle.
