Jimmy Stewart's character is such a dummy about the women. submitted by lisa on July 25, 2019, 1:54pm And Cary Grant's is so condescending as to seem unappealing to a contemporary viewer. Boy does the man have to know everything in this film. There's a particularly chagrinning bit in which Katherine Hepburn's character's father ---the film going along with it--- blames his having cheated on her mother on his daughter's not having been a sufficiently doting daughter. For real! I kid you not.

But I've still seen the film several times. Yar. She was yar. The kid singing the Lidia the Tattooed Lady song. The tension around standing up to the corrupt power-wielding publisher. I dunno. Even the drunk socialite and her jerk fiance. There's definitely something to it.

80 years ago Hepburn was supposed to be the cat's meow. Watching her now she is getting on my nerves. submitted by Tassos on March 7, 2023, 6:02pm Not thrilled with this supposedly big hit. Don't have the patience to suffer Hepburn's annoying and silly rants for another hour or two.
