COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Great fun submitted by CasualTim on July 28, 2010, 7:39pm The best kind of bubble-gum action. Though it's rated 'R' by the MPAA, this one's got an energy and enthusiasm that will best be enjoyed on a night you're feeling particularly young at heart.

Way more exciting than the graphic novel it's based on, the movie wins in the categories of action and visuals, dialogue, crescendo, character depth, and audience investment. Mintz-Plasse got to be a bit grating (beyond what his character called for) at times, but quick cuts and impending action made it easy to ignore. The baddies could've been played by life-size cardboard cutouts, but then that's kind of the point, isn't it? Overall great fun executed with significant vision.

Minnie Mouse submitted by williamchen on August 9, 2010, 4:51pm This movie sucked, the book was ALOT better.

really okay... submitted by lekendrick on May 23, 2012, 9:51pm it's very much defying in that stands repeated view w/ difficult dialog I'd perhaps have cut, but pretty pictures tone of the film I've habit not exactly watching screen while viewing movies as the sound & statements are important! But, I'll be happy sit & give it fair viewing as by set design, costuming or casting it's all very good looking deserving be viewed! Just lovely if only for the bright colors associated!

Interesting submitted by Kaydence paige on August 29, 2014, 7:32am This movie was interesting and I'm not sure which way to go with it. It's definitely not a top favorite but it's not the worst either.

Ok, not KICK-ASS submitted by wendylv on July 8, 2016, 11:25am I loved the plot and characters but the gratuitous violence kind of ruined it for me. Don't watch it with your 10 year old-- that R rating is well deserved. I think Edgar Wright could have made this into a classic movie.

Action and laughs submitted by ishhewitt on July 10, 2016, 1:41pm A solid good, violent film!

Violent but Fun submitted by Meginator on August 2, 2017, 3:40pm If you can get past its sometimes gratuitous violence, Kick-Ass is a pretty entertaining film. I was surprised by its depth and impressed by the quality of the acting; I made a lot of assumptions before going in and most of them were wrong. Some of the dialog and, again, the violence is problematic, and I can see this being a polarizing film, but it's surprisingly well made.

Darker than expected submitted by RebeccaWittekindt on August 3, 2023, 5:36pm From the trailer, which seemed pretty light-hearted and even a bit silly, you really don’t get a sense of just how dark this movie gets, or how violent. It’s not a bad movie, in fact, I think it’s actually quite good, just don’t go in expecting a movie for the whole family. Between a heart-warming scene of a father teaching his young daughter how to take a bullet wearing a vest, to a couple characters getting savagely beaten by mobsters (and set on fire!), it’s a crazy ride.
