Funny and moving submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 21, 2012, 11:12am A very modern (for the 1920s) city girl moves in with her rural relatives and sets their world to rights in this hilarious adaptation of the novel of the same name. This is one of Kate Beckinsale's first roles (you'll recognize her from the "Underworld" series) and she beautifully plays the part.

Funny submitted by willow on August 15, 2015, 6:31am An efficient city girl, played by Kate Beckinsale, moves in with a distant set of relatives on Cold Comfort Farm and finds them badly in need of her guidance and expertise, as she sets about solving all their problems. There is romance and gothic atmosphere and a great many laughs. Also a fun 1920s feeling to the movie. Enjoyable. (Her best friend is played by Joanna Lumley.)

Very English/Very Funny submitted by downing on June 18, 2016, 1:04pm This is a family favorite of ours. When we all get together, this is the movie we watch. It's odd, sweet, and at times uncomfortable. Ian McKellen is amazing in it.

Lame, Stupid and Boring. NOTHING like a good English comedy or mystery movie. LAME. submitted by Tassos on May 1, 2021, 11:15am Unbelievably boring for the first third of the stupid movie. Nothing ever happens. Not in the least funny either. I LOVE most movies from the UK, but this obviously is not one of them. Watching it as I type. SLow as molasses. Poor plot, mediocre acting. So go on and call it "awesome", Mr/Ms "Mysterio" moron. I am aware, your vocabulary consists of only one word, "awesome". Maybe if it had a second one, like "LAME", a word that describes you to a 't', you would be able to give a thumbs down once in your (human or robotic?) life.
