Engaging, Amazing Rap submitted by Meginator on July 4, 2019, 12:39am This album offers super smooth rap that is pays equal attention to both the instrumentals and the vocals, making each track a joyful exercise in collaboration and giving the entire package a consistently relaxed vibe. Musically, the Roots draw from genres such as soul, gospel, and R&B, all tied together with a sensibility borrowed from indie rock; it seems like an odd mix, but it comes together seamlessly in a style that is all their own. Lyrically, the guest artists engage with a huge range of topics, including a lot of deep commentary on modern life. I highly recommend this, especially for listeners who are fairly new to rap.
