Harmonies Continue submitted by tonyphil on July 9, 2013, 1:52pm The second album from David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, this time joined by Neil Young, is another masterpiece. Stills' opening "Carry On" links two pieces (in the spirit of the Beatles' "A Day In the Life," and some of Paul McCartney's later hits) to great effect. Graham Nash brings strong contributions, with "Teach Your Children" and "Our House." Young's added harmonies only add to the sound; his three compositions add depth and variety. In all, this album is a fine and durable work. "We have all been here before....."

Folk Rock with Delicious Vocal Harmonies submitted by Meginator on June 18, 2023, 12:32pm This is an incredible folk-rock album anchored by the quartet’s famous vocal harmonies, which lend each of the songs a sense of gravitas and create a consistent sonic language while still allowing the members’ individual songwriting talents to shine through. The sound is intimate, gentle folk-rock with some serious messages woven throughout, and it captures some of the philosophies behind the era’s youth movements without becoming overly preachy in the process and, as in “Teach Your Children”, even paying direct respect to older generations. Despite its obvious ties to the early 70s, the music also has a timeless feeling to it that probably stems from the simplicity of its base combo of guitar and voices; it’s a classic album, top to bottom, and still resonates today.
