Shark Horror in the Deep submitted by Meginator on June 22, 2018, 6:06pm When I first heard of this film, I figured that it was probably going to be either a totally schlocky horror flick or a surprisingly taut psychological thriller. After watching it, I think it’s actually somewhere in the middle, with an excellent premise, solid technical merits, reasonable deployment of jump scares, and (save one notable exception) light gore. The two leads have good chemistry and deliver convincing performances beyond merely screaming for their lives; I wish that the screenplay tried to flesh them out a little more than it did, but the filmmakers actually tried to give them some depth, which counts for something in a film like this. The technological achievement of shooting most of the film underwater is pretty impressive, even if the script isn’t quite as clever as I was hoping for. This film is far from terrible but doesn’t quite do justice to its premise, though it’s entertaining enough for what it is.

47 meters down submitted by dree411 on July 7, 2018, 3:42pm Why do I keep watching shark movies? It was decent enough and had me covering my eyes

Skip the diving silliness submitted by pkominsky on July 9, 2018, 2:05pm Many of the diving details are contrary to my experience. The air tanks last far too long for the depth, let alone the swimming exertion, and the radio connected full face masks would be very expensive and seem to me out of place with the sketchy boat and shark cage. The face masks don't seem to cover their ears, which makes me wonder not only how the radio connection works, but why they didn't blow out their eardrums on the fast descent. What I've been told about nitrogen narcosis is not like what was depicted in the film. Finally, the bends from a fast ascent would be life threatening, as the film relates, but drowning at 150 ft. seems a more certain death. I tried to ignore the diving silliness, but the film also has frequent unnecessary, distracting dialog to tell the audience what is going on.
This film apparently tried to capitalize on the success of the Shallows, which despite some flaws looks very good compared to 47 Meters Down.

Decent Psychological Thriller submitted by lstorc on August 28, 2018, 6:37pm When we going to this film expecting another Shark Week movie. However, it is suspenseful and intricate.
