An All-Time Classic submitted by Meginator on July 4, 2020, 12:14pm This album has a massive reputation, and it lives up to every bit of its hype as Davis’s trumpet leads these tracks in a consistently cool vibe that persists even at faster tempos. The music itself is delightfully complex, taking compositional cues from orchestral music and never sacrificing its core sound for the sake of unnecessary theatrics; every note is in the right place and the solo sections burst with feeling. This is absolutely essential listening for everybody: no one has ever done cool better than Miles Davis.
