Sad and Educational submitted by cbrewster on July 30, 2014, 9:34am I love Henry Fonda, but even he couldn't make this a happy movie. I have to say that the book is better than the movie, but it worth watching. Truly shows how difficult was for the lower class during the dust bowl.

Classic in All Ways! submitted by ekjensen on July 17, 2019, 10:21pm This 1940 film version remains outstanding (just watched again tonight) highlights the great book by John Steinbeck (Nobel Prize Winner of 1962) very well. It still reminds us of the plight of the poor and the need to be humanitarians, eternal themes of humankind. Henry Fonda (Tom Joad) and Jane Darwell (Ma Joad)[Academy Award Winner) are superb (and timeless) as the principals, but the supporting cast of actors who portray all the members of the Joad family are amazing, too.
