Early Hoffman and early Sam Peckenpah submitted by ccrose on August 31, 2019, 9:18pm Just knowing the director should cue you to extraordinary violence. The English countryside is the setting and Hoffmann and Susan George live In a falling down cottage. Hoffman is inept at the basics , even lighting a fire. Workmen, locals, organize a plan to kill him and rape her.
It’s rather a surprise that Hoffman is in this movie. He’d done The Graduate. But Sam Peckenpah has plans. Violence is horrific and lasts a long time. Peckenpah is honing his skills.

Straw Dogs submitted by jibkidder on July 30, 2022, 8:31am A brutal, divisive Peckinpah which I can't help but love.
