An austere masterpiece submitted by amy on August 29, 2019, 7:36pm Faith meets a lack of forbearance in Bergman's austere masterpiece chronicling a doubting minister's grappling with the issue of God's existence. Stunningly composed, with a remarkably concise script, this film - while admittedly relatively slow-moving - ponders religious and philosophical questions with a deft certainty that few films have ever matched.
