COMMUNITY REVIEWS

A look at events more than 40 years ago, but definitely worth watching today submitted by valjean on July 29, 2018, 8:59pm As you go through this series you'll see how we haven't learned from many of our mistakes. When we were struggling to advance the image of America during the 60s, so many unintended consequences were the fallout. Watching this really teaches you about the same kind of wars and events the US has been involved in this last decade.

Looking back at a war of my generation submitted by ccrose on August 4, 2019, 6:15pm The Vietnam War, the clear-eyed but compassionate documentary 6 part series by Ken Burns, was hard to watch but I learned or relearned how it all unfolded, why Kennedy decided to firm our presence at a point when citizens shrugged and followed. It was hard to watch the violence but also the disillusionment as it escalated, drafting young men. It was familiar to see how and why citizens said no more. It’s weird to be old enough to remember naïveté then to slowly wake up. Complex issues. Terrible human costs. Definitely watch it with your older children.
