The book is better, but the movie is ok submitted by MH17 on August 6, 2018, 9:45pm A fairly decent movie based on an extraordinary book, so naturally I felt a little let down. It has a bit of a movie of the week veneer to it and the main character comes off as more crochety than sympathetic at times. His wife's character is under-realized and the movie suffers for it. Still, not a bad examination of time and age and the various ways we shape and mold our memories according to what we want to remember. Light fare compared to the novel, which is absolutely worth a read.
